Commercial Senior Design Engineer - Solar (UK Permit Projects)

Job Summary:

The

Commercial Senior Design Engineer

will lead the design and technical documentation for commercial-scale solar PV projects in compliance with UK regulations, standards, and permitting requirements. The role involves overseeing the complete design cycle from concept to permit submission, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the

end-to-end design process

for commercial solar PV systems (50 kW - 5 MW+), including feasibility, conceptual, and detailed design stages. Develop

site layout drawings

,

roof mounting plans

,

string designs

,

electrical SLDs

, and

cable schedules

using AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, and other design tools. Ensure all designs comply with

UK electrical codes (BS 7671)

,

G99/G100 requirements

, and

DNO application standards

. Prepare and review

permit drawing sets

and

as-built documentation

as per UK planning authority and grid operator requirements. Conduct

shade analysis, yield estimation

, and

energy performance modeling

to support project proposals and financial models. Collaborate with project managers, sales engineers, and permitting teams to ensure technical accuracy and timely submissions. Review third-party engineering reports and support

technical due diligence

for project approvals. Stay updated on

UK solar regulations, grid connection standards

, and

new technologies

in commercial PV design. Mentor junior design engineers and ensure

QA/QC standards

in all deliverables.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in

Electrical, Renewable Energy, or related engineering field

.

5+ years of experience

in solar PV system design, including at least

2 years handling UK or international commercial projects

. Strong proficiency in

AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, SketchUp, and MS Office

. Working knowledge of

UK DNO requirements

,

planning permission

processes, and

permit documentation

. Understanding of

DC/AC design

,

inverter selection

,

string sizing

,

voltage drop

, and

protection coordination

. Excellent analytical, communication, and team coordination skills. Ability to handle multiple projects with tight deadlines.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
