Senior Business Development Manager - School Management Software (ED-ERP)

Role Overview:



As the Senior Business Development Manager (BDM), you will be responsible for driving the growth of our school ERP product in K-12 schools. You will own both

new school acquisition

(field sales) and

team leadership

(managing a field sales / BDM team). You will develop and execute a scalable sales strategy, mentor and lead your team, and close large institutional deals.

Key Responsibilities:



Sales Strategy & Execution

Develop and implement a go-to-market plan for school ERP in your region. Identify, prospect, and convert school leads -- targeting private schools, chain schools, trusts, and affordable schools. Conduct sales presentations, product demos, and negotiate contracts with school management. Track sales pipeline and sales performance; manage forecasting and reporting.

Team Leadership & Management

Manage a team of BDMs or Field Sales Executives: hire, train, mentor, and develop their skills. Set sales targets for your team, monitor performance, and drive accountability. Conduct regular sales meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews. Coordinate with marketing and product teams to ensure alignment on messaging, collaterals, and product-market fit.

Partnerships & Business Expansion

Build relationships with school networks, educational trusts, and edtech partners. Explore strategic partnerships -- e.g., with school groups, government bodies, or educational NGOs. Represent the company in education conferences, exhibitions, and school events.

Customer Success & Retention

Work closely with implementation & customer success teams to ensure smooth onboarding of schools. Act as a bridge between schools and product team -- provide feedback from clients to influence product roadmap. Ensure high renewal rates by building strong relationships with school leadership.

Market Intelligence

Analyze the competitive landscape: understand other school management software providers, pricing, features. Track trends in K-12 education and edtech to refine sales strategies. Provide market feedback to the product team for feature improvements or product differentiators.

Required Skills & Experience:



Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, or related field. MBA preferred.

5-8+ years of business development / sales experience

, with at least 2-3 years in edtech / school software / SaaS sales. Proven track record in

field sales

(selling to schools / educational institutions) and managing a sales team. Strong negotiation and communication skills (C-level, school principals, trustees). Ability to travel frequently for school visits, demos, and events. Data-driven mindset: experience in managing pipelines, forecasting, and using CRM tools. Leadership skills and experience in coaching / mentoring a team. High resilience, self-starter, and goal oriented.

Desirable:



Prior experience in school ERP / school management software. Understanding of school operations (admission cycles, budgeting, decision-making in schools). Existing network in the K-12 school ecosystem in the target region. Knowledge of product implementation process (onboarding, training, implementation phases).

KPIs / Success Metrics:



Number of new schools onboarded (in a quarter / year) Revenue generated from new business Team performance vs. target (BDM team) School renewal and retention rates Sales cycle length (from lead to closure) Customer satisfaction / NPS from schools

Reporting Line:



Reports to: Head of Sales / Director - Revenue Team: BDMs / Sales Executives, possibly Sales Ops

Compensation:



Base salary + performance-based incentives (commission, bonus) Travel allowance / field travel support Other benefits (health insurance, stock options if applicable)
