Job Summary:



The Senior Accountant in the real estate industry is responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The role involves overseeing property accounting, financial analysis, and assisting in budgeting and forecasting for real estate projects and operations.

Key Responsibilities:1. Financial Reporting:



Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for real estate assets and entities. Ensure accurate recording of revenue, expenses, and other financial transactions. Maintain compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and real estate accounting standards.

2. Property and Project Accounting:



Manage accounting for property acquisitions, developments, and sales. Track capital expenditures, depreciation, and property valuations. Reconcile property management and development accounts, including tenant ledgers and lease agreements.

3. Budgeting and Forecasting:



Collaborate with management to develop annual budgets and forecasts for real estate assets and operations. Monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis. Assist in financial modeling for potential real estate investments or developments.

4. Compliance and Taxation:



Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations for real estate transactions. Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals during audits and filings. Maintain accurate records of property taxes, lease payments, and other regulatory obligations.

5. Accounts Payable and Receivable Management:



Oversee accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) related to real estate transactions. Manage tenant billing, rent collections, and resolve any discrepancies. Reconcile bank accounts, trust accounts, and escrow balances.

6. Internal Controls and Process Improvement:



Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure data integrity. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and implement best practices. Train junior staff on real estate-specific accounting procedures.

7. Real Estate-Specific Tasks:



Track lease agreements, tenant obligations, and rental income schedules. Perform CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations and property expense allocations. Support due diligence and financial analysis for property acquisitions or divestitures.

Qualifications and Skills:Education:



Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) designation preferred.

Experience:



Minimum of 8-9 years of accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in real estate accounting. Proficiency in property management software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or AppFolio) and accounting systems.

Skills:



Strong knowledge of GAAP and real estate accounting principles. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

Pay: ?35,000.00 - ?40,000.00 per month
