Role Overview



The Senior Academic Counsellor is responsible for driving student admissions by providing expert counselling, understanding student needs, recommending suitable courses/programs, and achieving monthly sales targets. This role also involves handling escalations, mentoring junior counsellors, and contributing to overall revenue growth for the institution.

Key ResponsibilitiesSales & Admissions



Convert leads through counselling (calls, walk-ins, online enquiries). Understand each student's background, goals, and requirements to recommend the right course/program. Achieve and exceed monthly/quarterly admissions and revenue targets. Follow a structured sales pipeline from lead generation to enrolment. Conduct follow-ups with prospective students to maximise conversions.

Counselling & Guidance



Explain program features, curriculum, career outcomes, fees, and admission procedures. Build trust and rapport with students and parents to influence admission decisions. Provide solutions to doubts related to course value, career opportunities, or payment options.

Leadership & Team Support



Mentor junior counsellors on product knowledge, sales techniques, and counselling quality. Support the team with difficult leads and high-potential prospects. Share conversion strategies and best practices to improve team performance.

Process Management



Maintain accurate records of leads, follow-ups, and conversions in the CRM system. Coordinate with marketing, academics, and finance teams for smooth admission processing. Participate in admission drives, seminars, and open-house events.

Reporting



Provide weekly/monthly reports on enquiries, pipeline status, and conversions. Analyse lead quality and suggest improvements to marketing campaigns.

Required Qualifications



Graduate/Master's degree in any field.

2-6+ years of experience in education sales/admissions counselling.

Strong sales orientation with proven track records in target achievement. Excellent communication, persuasion, and negotiation skills. Ability to handle student and parent queries confidently.

Preferred Skills



Experience in EdTech, universities, coaching institutes, or training programs. Working knowledge of CRM tools and lead management systems. Ability to handle walk-ins, tele-counselling, and online conversions.
