SQL Database Engineer
Purpose
The Junior SQL Database Engineer supports the development, maintenance, and optimization of
SQL-based database systems. This entry-level role focuses on backend database tasks, query
development, and assisting with data integration processes.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain SQL Server databases, including writing queries and stored
procedures.
Troubleshoot and optimize SQL queries for performance and reliability.
Assist with ETL processes and data integration using SSIS and Azure Data Factory.
Support database deployments and version control through GitHub.
Monitor database performance using tools such as Redgate SQL Monitor.
Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity and
availability.
Required Skills
Basic experience in SQL Server development and database administration.
Ability to write and troubleshoot SQL queries and stored procedures.
Knowledge of SSIS and ETL concepts.
Familiarity with Azure cloud services (Azure Data Factory).
Understanding of GitHub workflows for version control.
Preferred Skills
Exposure to Redgate SQL Monitor or similar monitoring tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Qualifications
Relevant Degree: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a
related field.
Experience: 5-6 years of experience in SQL Server development and database
administration.
