Work as a team member in collaboration with the Communication team at Latika.
Work collaboratively with professionals, including project heads, therapists, CDA's, assistant teachers, etc as part of an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary team, particularly when liaising with family, carers or teachers to develop IEPs.
Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing concerns, under supervision of supervisor.
Develop strategies and goals for children with speech, language, communication, and swallowing concerns.
Keep updating in relevant advancements in the field including AAC's etc. Show innovations on how these advancements can be applied in low resource settings at Latika.
Provide training and education to family/caregivers and other professionals in Latika related to speech, communication and swallowing in children and young adults.
Engage in implementation research to enhance knowledge and inform practice about communication processes that may lead to more effective outcomes.
Continued professional collaboration with other organisations working with similar working environments and engage in meetings and case discussions for children with complex communication concerns- Latika team will be part of these meetings.
Engage with the team to develop social media material and observe days of significance in relation to Communication.
Report, discuss planning and plan of implementation with supervisor on regular basis.
Share weekly schedules with the Communications team and supervisor by email.
Work in collaboration with Wabi Sabi team for effective inclusion of children in mainstream whenever required.
To actively promote Latika's philosophy of equal respect for all staff, visitors and parents.
Like all professional staff, the
Speech Therapist
must:
1. Read and understand Latika's Code of Conduct and comply with all
Latika policies, including those regarding child protection, supervision and appraisal, attendance and leaves.
2. Keep up-to-date with professional developments relevant to your work and attend appropriate training opportunities when approved by the reporting manager.
3. Observe full professional standards in working with children, families and staff, including the immediate reporting of any concerns regarding child protection issues.
4. Participate in project, team and Latika's meetings or workshops as applicable contributing your perspective when appropriate.
5. Carry out any further duties which may be requested by senior staff or the reporting manager which are in accordance with your professional skills.
