Job Title Specialist, Systems Engineering
Mainframe Batch Operation / console Monitoring team is 24x7X365 - always on. Responsible for Service Delivery of all batch processing and file transmissions. This includes money movement and critical SLA's to and from merchants, banks, clients, associations, and the Fed. Monitoring of the Mainframes and resolving issues on the MF and performing IPLs. Mainframe Batch Operations is the first to address the incident, if further assistance is needed, then page the appropriate Support group/s.
We follow "The Sun Model" for Mainframe Batch Operation.
What you will do:

• Mainframe Console and Batch Monitoring.
• Monitor production Parallel Sysplex LPARs and test LPARs, providing tier 1 and tier 2 hardware/software support for the mainframe complexes.
• Respond to WTOR, WTO, Pending units, SMF dumps, Dump datasets, Buffer shortage, and JES resources shortages.
• Independently makes accurate and timely technical decisions with minimal management intervention.
• Change Service Class, initiators, JES Queues.
• Tape swaps reply to messages, mount messages. Varying drives. Boxed drives.
• DASD replies, Device name or cancel messages.
• Perform IPLs on a regular basis and support during critical system upgrades with high quality coordination.
• Monitor the operating status of Mainframe / Distributed Batch environment and critical transmission through standard computing processes/procedures and respond to client's enquiries.
• Assist in troubleshooting processing problems / bottlenecks and with coordinating processing workload and batch schedules to meet functional deadlines/SLA.
• Understands and analyzes JCL, performs job restarts and fix basic abends.
• Maintain daily logs, handovers re-reruns and equipment malfunction reports to ensure maximum uptime for scheduled production.

What you will need to have:

• Good communication and reasoning skills.
• Bachelor's degree in science /engineering.
• 4- 5 years' experience in data processing with a focus on operations in IBM MVS/Os390/ zOS environment.
• Strong Technical knowledge of Mainframe Batch & Console operations.
• Knowledge of JCL, TSO, and ISPF. Able to read basic syslog.
• Knowledge of Transmission products like SFG and NDM.
• Understanding of CA7/ Control-M scheduling software.
• Ready to work 12 hr shift.

What would be great to have:

• Knowledge of ticketing tools like ServiceNow or Remedy.
• Sound knowledge and practical approach towards ITIL concepts, especially, Incident Management, Change Management, and Problem Management
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with next level teams and clients, solving major issues.
