The role is responsible for contributing to and implementing the organization's information security strategy to protect data, systems, and networks from potential threats. Also, contributing to and implementing the organization's security architecture, ensuring that all systems, applications, and networks are protected against threats. This role involves working closely with IT and development teams to integrate security into every aspect of the technology stack. This role involves working within the network security team, managing risk, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, in-depth knowledge of cybersecurity practices, and experience in participating in large-scale security programs.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Lead the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAF, DMARC, DNS, and VPN
Review and approve configurations for systems, networks, and applications to ensure that they meet security standards
Maintain and contribute to the organization's security architecture and documentation, ensuring that it meets current and future security requirements
Identify and participate in assessing security technologies and tools that align with the organization's security strategy
Present as an expert and a voice of authority to the enterprise around network security, providing guidance, support, and mentoring to ensure the effectiveness of security operations
Network Security Engineer
Create, modify, and remove security policies and objects within the network security toolset (Fortinet UTM, WAF, DMARC, and Netskope ZTNA) in a manner to protect Amgen's computerized network, while providing access to enable business systems and processes
Be a leader in the troubleshooting of technical issues that are related to Network Security offerings
Administer Enterprise Restricted Browser (Island.io) by working with Partner Enablement team to identify and grant required access to business enabling services across Amgen's services
Script (Fortinet security fabric, Python) and build automation tools on an ad-hoc basis
Lead, build and present knowledge sharing presentations and documentation to educate staff on network security processes
Lead tools identification, onboarding and/or tools development to protect Amgen's computerized network environment
Offer remediation guidance for identified issues
Author and assist junior staff with documenting network security policies, standards and guidance documentation
Basic Qualifications and Experience:
Master's degree with a 6 - 11 years of experience in network or network security or related field OR
Bachelor's degree with 8- 13 years of experience in network or network security or related field OR
Diploma with 10-12 years of experience in network or network security or related field
Functional Skills:
Must-Have Skills:
Expert knowledge of enterprise network operations, firewall operations, intrusion detection & prevention, web proxy, and IPSec/SSL-VPN/ZTNA
Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting complex solutions
Extensive documentation using Lucid, Visio, or other diagraming software
Well versed in change control processes using enterprise software like Remedy or Service Now
Good-to-Have Skills:
Expert knowledge and experience using and administering Fortinet product solutions including FortiGate, FortiWeb, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager, FortiADC, and FortiAuthenticator
Expert knowledge and experience with Netskope security product offering including Next Generation Secure Web Gateway (SWG), Private Access, Cloud Firewall, and SkopeAI
Experience with endpoint protection, cloud security, and incident response
Experience with DMARC email reputation security using Valimail
Experience using InfoBlox IPAM
Experience using F5 Load Balancers (LTM & GTM)
Experience with AWS, Azure, and GCP clouds
Expert English verbal and written communication skills
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
Ability to lead and work effectively with global, virtual teams
High degree of initiative and self-motivation
Ability to manage multiple priorities successfully
Team oriented, with a focus on achieving team goals
Strong presentation and public speaking skills
