Job Description


As a Specialist in Hardware focusing on Power Electronics, you will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of power electronic systems and components. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the functionality and reliability of power electronic products. Your role will involve conducting simulations, creating prototypes, and analyzing performance metrics. You will also provide technical support during the manufacturing phase and assist in troubleshooting any hardware issues that arise.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Development:
Design and develop hardware for power electronic systems including converters, inverters, rectifiers, and motor drives.
Develop circuit schematics, PCB layouts, and perform component selection based on electrical, thermal, and cost considerations.
Simulation and Analysis:
Conduct simulations for circuit behavior and power losses using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice, or LTspice.
Perform thermal, electrical, and EMI/EMC analysis to ensure design robustness and compliance with industry standards.
Testing and Validation:
Develop and execute validation plans, including test cases for functional, electrical, and environmental testing.
Analyze performance data and ensure hardware meets design specifications and regulatory requirements.
Prototyping and Debugging:
Build and test prototypes for verification of design concepts.
Identify and troubleshoot hardware issues, implementing design improvements based on test outcomes.
Collaboration and Documentation:
Work collaboratively with software, mechanical, and system engineers to ensure seamless product integration.
Prepare technical documentation, test reports, and design reviews for internal and client presentations.
Manufacturing Support:
Provide technical guidance during the production phase, assisting in resolving component, process, or test-related issues.
Support supplier and manufacturing teams in component qualification and failure analysis.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Strong understanding of power electronic topologies (DC-DC converters, inverters, rectifiers, motor drives, etc.).
Proficiency in circuit design tools (Altium Designer, Cadence, OrCAD, or similar).
Experience with simulation and modeling tools (MATLAB/Simulink, PSpice, LTspice).
Knowledge of embedded systems interfaces and analog/digital hardware design principles.
Familiarity with EMI/EMC design guidelines, thermal management, and reliability testing.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
Strong teamwork, communication, and documentation abilities.
Educational Qualification:
B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering or M.E./M.Tech in Power Electronics or a related specialization.
Preferred Experience:
3-8 years of experience in hardware design and development for power electronics systems.
Experience in automotive, industrial automation, renewable energy, or consumer electronics domains is an advantage.
Familiarity with relevant industry standards (IEC, ISO, UL, or automotive AEC-Q standards).
