What Does a great Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) do at Fiserv?

The ability to think tactically as well as strategically and to articulate your expectations to a mixed team of engineers, senior level developers and vendor support engineers is critical to the success in this role. In addition to these important skills, it is imperative that you can summarize technical issues relating to software implementation, function, and upgrades and to prepare written and verbal updates to senior level management. This is a hands-on technical role and will resolve all technical issues within lower and upper environments and making recommendation for performance and capacity improvements.

Additionally, you will focus using analytical and troubleshooting skills to provide project participation, support continuity, and rotating on-call escalation. You will also lead detection and troubleshooting of issues that affect delivery of services for industry leading Digital Consumer Experience products. Teamwork and creativity are essential to this role. As a go-to point of escalation, you will be challenged with resolving card holder impacting issues in a fast-paced environment.

What you will do:

• Provide technology leadership in a tightly integrated fintech eco-systems, which incorporates integrations from mainframe to Unix and windows web / application servers, and Database Servers.
• Cross team collaboration \xe2\x80\x93 develop relationship with Development and Operations team.
• Development - Create, validate and approve operational run-books, and other required documentation. Perform impact analysis and maintain knowledgebase of issues and resolutions.
• Partnering with business and technical SMEs to understand relevant data, analyze and perform necessary deep dive to solve given business problem, summarize and present key findings
• Learning and mastering the Payment domain and our systems
• Lead/Participate in all Production Support activities during incidents and outages.
• Continuously improve our infrastructure to be easy to deploy, scalable, secure and fault tolerant.
• Participate in capacity planning, tuning systems stability, provisioning, performance, and scaling of the application infrastructure.
• Resolve issues for a 24x7 environment in a non-impacting yet fast-paced resolve time.

What you will need to have:

• Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
• 8 to 10 years of professional SRE experience at large organizations, preferably within Financial Services
• Good experience on Monitoring tools like Dynatrace, splunk
• CI/CD tools and technologies \xe2\x80\x93 GIT, GitLab, Harness, Bitbucket, SonaType, Jenkins, Fortify, Salenium, etc.
• Experience with Kubernetes implementation with Google
• Deep understanding of an object orientated language, preferably the latest version of Java
• Creating alerts and dashboards utilizing different application monitoring tools such as Splunk, App Dynamics and Dynatrace.
• Shell Scripting and python would be an added advantage.
• Proficient in production systems design including High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Performance, Efficiency, and Security user, application performance, system, log, time-series, and dashboarding
• Proficient in a modern infrastructure automation toolkit such as Terraform/Helm
• Proficient in a Linux or Unix based environment
• Deep understanding of modern microservice based architectures and operations
• Experience in destructive testing methodologies and tools such as chaos monkey
• Experience in defensive coding practices and patterns for high-availability.

What would be nice to have

• Good Exposure towards Linux, Apache HTTP & Tomcat support and Application Support.
• Source Code Management tool, Bug Tracking Tool, Build and Deploy Exposure
• Understanding of Release Management concepts and having knowledge on their day-to-day activities will be preferred.
• Proficient in a modern scripting language like GO or Python
• More than 2-year experience with relational databases such as Postgres.
• Familiarity with Open Source concepts and tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK etc. Knowledge of APM fundamentals or experience in tools like New Relic or AppDynamics
