To design, deliver and manage educational support for students with special educational needs (SEN) so that they can access the school curriculum and achieve their full potential. The Special Educator will collaborate closely with classroom teachers, support staff, therapists and parents to ensure inclusive, differentiated learning.
Key Responsibilities
Assess individual student needs (learning, behavioural, emotional, physical) and develop Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) in consultation with the support team and parents.
Adapt and modify the standard curriculum, teaching strategies, learning materials and assessment methods to suit students with diverse needs.
Provide targeted instruction (one-on-one and small group) for students with mild to moderate challenges, including learning disabilities, ADHD, ASD, etc.
Support inclusion by working alongside mainstream class teachers: co-teaching, providing classroom support, scaffolding, and facilitating differentiated instruction.
Monitor, document and report on student progress regularly, adjust IEPs and teaching strategies as required.
Liaise with parents/guardians: provide regular updates, offer training/support sessions, help them understand how they can assist their child's learning at home.
Work with external specialists (therapists, counsellors, psychologists) and internal staff to implement a holistic plan for the student.
Develop and maintain teaching-learning materials and resources suitable for learners with special needs.
Promote awareness among school staff and students about inclusive practices, disability awareness, empathy and supportive learning environments.
Provide transition planning support for students moving between classes/grades, or to other educational settings.
Participate in relevant professional development to stay current with special education best practices, inclusive pedagogy and assistive technologies.
Undertake any other duties relating to the role as assigned by the Principal or Inclusion Coordinator.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) - mandatory.
(Preferably) Additional qualification/diploma in Special Education or inclusive education would be beneficial.
Valid teaching certification (as per regulatory requirements).
Demonstrated knowledge of strategies for teaching students with special needs, inclusive education practices and differentiated instruction.
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders (students, parents, teachers, specialists).
Empathy, patience, sensitivity and a solutions-oriented mindset to support diverse learners.
Good record-keeping, organisational and monitoring skills.
Desired Experience
Experience of at least 2-5 years working as a special educator or in a role supporting learners with diverse needs (within a school or inclusive educational setting) is preferred.
Experience in developing and implementing IEPs, adapting curriculum and working in partnership with mainstream teachers.
Familiarity with assistive technology, inclusive classroom strategies and collaborative teaching.

Working Conditions & Schedule
Full-time role within EuroSchool Whitefield, based at the school campus in Whitefield, Bengaluru (or as specified).
Working hours aligned with school hours; occasional meetings, professional development or parent-events may require flexibility.
Participation in inclusive education initiatives, staff training sessions and school-wide events.
