The Special Educator will be responsible for providing individualized educational support to children with diverse learning needs, including developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, learning disabilities, and other neurodevelopmental conditions. The educator will design, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and collaborate with parents, teachers, and therapists to ensure holistic development of each child.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Assessment & Planning
Conduct detailed educational assessments to identify the child's strengths and areas of need.
Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) with measurable goals.
Modify curriculum and teaching methods based on the child's learning profile.
B. Instruction & Intervention
Provide one-on-one or small-group remedial teaching sessions.
Teach academic, functional, behavioural, and life skills as needed.
Adapt teaching materials and strategies to accommodate different learning styles.
Incorporate visual schedules, task breakdowns, sensory strategies, and assistive tools.
C. Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with speech therapists, occupational therapists, behaviour therapists, and classroom teachers.
Conduct regular parent meetings and training sessions to ensure continuity at home.
Maintain clear documentation, progress reports, and daily session notes.
D. Classroom & Behaviour Management
Implement behaviour support plans in collaboration with the behaviour team.
Create a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
Use positive reinforcement and evidence-based strategies to manage behaviours.
E. Training & Professional Development
Participate in workshops, seminars, and in-house training to stay updated with best practices in special education.
Guide and train shadow teachers/aides when required.
3. Qualifications & Skills
Mandatory Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education (B.Ed Spl. Ed / M.Ed Spl. Ed).
RCI Registration (Rehabilitation Council of India) -- mandatory.
Preferred Experience
1-3 years of experience working with children with special needs.
Experience in inclusive classrooms, therapy centres, or special schools.
Skill Requirements
Strong understanding of developmental disabilities.
Ability to design IEPs and conduct assessments.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Patience, empathy, and child-friendly approach.
Ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.
