Job Summary
The Special Educator is responsible for identifying and supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) including learning disabilities, developmental delays, ADHD, autism spectrum conditions, behavioral challenges, and other learning differences. The role includes creating Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), delivering specialized interventions, collaborating with teachers and parents, and ensuring an inclusive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities Identification & Assessment
Screen students for learning difficulties or developmental concerns.
Conduct baseline assessments and document findings.
Maintain records of students' strengths, needs, and progress.
Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
Develop IEPs for identified students with clear goals, strategies, and accommodations.
Review and update IEPs periodically based on progress and feedback.
Coordinate with class teachers to ensure implementation of IEP strategies in classrooms.
Intervention & Support
Provide one-on-one or small-group remedial classes for students with SEN.
Use multisensory, structured, and evidence-based teaching methods.
Modify classroom activities, assignments, and assessments for students requiring accommodations.
Support students with academic skills (reading, writing, numeracy), behavior management, and social skills.
Teacher Collaboration
Guide and train teachers on inclusive classroom practices.
Share strategies for behavior management, differentiated instruction, and accommodations.
Provide classroom observations and feedback to teachers.
Parent Communication
Meet with parents to discuss assessment results, learning plans, progress, and home strategies.
Maintain open, empathetic communication and involve parents in intervention planning.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain confidential records of student assessments, IEPs, and progress reports.
Ensure compliance with school policies and government guidelines related to inclusive education (RPwD Act, CBSE/Board norms).
Prepare reports for internal and external audits if required.
Awareness & Training
Conduct awareness programs for teachers, parents, and students on learning disabilities and inclusive practices.
Contribute to school workshops, professional development sessions, and orientation programs.
Qualifications & Skills Educational Qualification
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education (B.Ed / M.Ed in Special Education).
Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of child development, learning disabilities, and inclusive education.
Ability to develop IEPs and use specialized teaching strategies.
Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and the school team.
Knowledge of assistive technologies and adaptive tools (preferred).
Experience
1-3 years of experience working as a Special Educator in a school setting (freshers with required qualifications may be considered).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ?10,376.15 - ?33,828.31 per month
