to manage procurement of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components used in genset manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have engineering knowledge, strong negotiation skills, and experience in strategic sourcing to support cost-effective, timely, and high-quality material procurement aligned with our production needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Sourcing & Procurement:
Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers for mechanical, electrical, and engine components used in gensets (e.g., alternators, diesel engines, controllers, sheet metal parts, batteries).
Obtain competitive quotations and lead cost negotiations to achieve cost savings and value improvements.
Issue Purchase Orders (POs) and maintain procurement schedules in line with the production plan.
Supplier Management:
Develop strategic relationships with key vendors to ensure long-term supply continuity and performance.
Monitor supplier performance (on-time delivery, quality, service) and implement corrective actions where necessary.
Conduct supplier audits and visits, especially for quality and capacity evaluation.
Technical Support:
Collaborate with R&D and Engineering teams to understand technical requirements and ensure component compatibility and quality.
Review technical drawings/specs and align sourcing decisions with engineering inputs.
Cost Control & Reporting:
Analyze cost breakdowns, track savings initiatives, and report sourcing KPIs.
Support make-or-buy analysis and develop localization strategies to reduce landed cost.
Compliance & Documentation:
Ensure procurement compliance with ISO standards, safety norms, and company policies.
Maintain accurate procurement records including contracts, supplier data, and PO logs.
Qualifications:
Education:
B.E./B. Tech in Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial Engineering (mandatory)
Experience:
3-7 years in procurement/sourcing, preferably in genset, power equipment, or heavy engineering industries
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of genset components and manufacturing processes
Knowledge of procurement tools (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and MS Excel/ERP systems
Good negotiation, communication, and supplier relationship management skills
Familiarity with local and global sourcing practices
Understanding of import/export regulations and incoterms (a plus)
