About the Role
As the
Solutions Architect, Manufacturing AI
, you are the highly specialized
Subject Matter Expert (SME)
responsible for translating complex, real-world manufacturing challenges into viable, high-value AI/ML solutions. You will act as the crucial
strategic link
between our industrial customers' operational needs and our internal Product and Development teams.
Your primary mission is to deeply understand manufacturing processes, rigorously validate customer requirements, and
define the technical blueprint
for solutions that maximize ROI and drive the strategic direction of our
SaaS AI/ML product
in the industrial sector. This is an
influential, autonomous, individual contributor
role.
Key Strategic & Professional Responsibilities
I. Manufacturing Domain Mastery & Customer Engagement
Deep Operational Expertise:
Serve as the definitive SME on manufacturing processes (
discrete & concrete
), operational workflows, equipment, and industrial data (MES, SCADA, Historians).
Strategic Requirement Gathering:
Conduct in-depth operational walkthroughs and workshops with senior client stakeholders to rigorously
validate
pain points and define unmet needs.
KPI Translation:
Expertly capture, analyze, and translate operational KPIs (OEE, throughput, yield, quality variability, downtime) into clear, measurable
business outcomes
and solution success criteria.
Industry Trends:
Advise the CPO and Product teams on emerging trends in Industry 4.0, IIoT, and AI applications to ensure our solutions maintain a market-leading advantage.
II. AI Solution Architecture & Internal Translation (The Bridge)
Solution
Architecture:
Design high-level, commercially viable AI/ML solution architectures and workflows (e.g., predictive maintenance, batch and process optimization).
Requirements & Specifications:
Translate operational insights into structured BRDs, functional specifications,
user stories
, and clear success criteria for Product and Engineering teams.
Value & ROI Modeling:
Build quantified ROI models and business cases for AI features, enabling informed product investment and strong value articulation for Sales.
Business-Technical Translation:
Act as the primary bridge between customer needs and technical execution by converting business requirements and operational constraints into actionable technical specifications, data requirements, and model objectives.
Cross-Functional & UX Collaboration:
Partner closely with Product,
UX Designers
, ML Research, and Engineering teams throughout sprint planning and development to ensure workflows, dashboards, and insights align with real manufacturing processes and user personas.
Manufacturing Data Context:
Provide deep guidance on industrial data realities--including historians, sensor quality, data gaps, batching anomalies, and operational nuances--to support accurate feature engineering and model design.
III. Influence & Governance
Product Roadmap Influence:
Shape the Manufacturing AI roadmap through validated customer requirements, feasibility assessments, and market insights.
Solution Governance & Validation:
Participate in design reviews, technical scoping,
solution validation, and UAT
to ensure alignment with operational needs and committed business value.
Sales & Pre-Sales Enablement:
Support high-stakes customer engagements, solution presentations, and PoC scoping as the manufacturing and AI domain expert.
Required Professional Qualifications
Education & Experience
Education:
Bachelor's degree in
Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering
, or a related quantitative field. A Master's degree is a plus.
Experience:
8-12+ years
of professional experience, with a heavy emphasis on
5+ years in Manufacturing Operations, Process Engineering, or industrial Digital Transformation
.
Solution Experience:
Proven track record in a
Solutions Architect, Senior Business Analyst, or Solutions Consultant
role, defining and scoping technical solutions (ideally AI/ML or Advanced Analytics) for
SaaS or Enterprise software clients.
Technical & Domain Skills
Manufacturing Systems:
Deep working knowledge of standard industrial systems (MES, ERP integration, SCADA, PLCs) and the data generated from them.
AI/ML Product Lifecycle:
Strong understanding of the
end-to-end AI/ML product lifecycle
, including model governance, MLOps, and the specific challenges of deploying models in a cloud-to-edge industrial environment.
Technical Documentation:
Expertise in creating clear, structured, and detailed BRDs, functional specifications, and process flow diagrams.
