Position: Sonography Assistant

Department: Radiology / Imaging

Reporting To: Consultant Radiologist / Head of Department

Job Summary:

The Sonography Assistant will support the Radiology Department in day-to-day sonography-related activities, including patient assistance, preparation of reports, and typing work. The role requires accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to hospital protocols while maintaining patient comfort and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Radiologist/Sonographer in handling patients during ultrasound procedures.
Prepare patients for sonography by explaining the procedure and ensuring comfort.
Maintain cleanliness and readiness of the ultrasound room and equipment.
Record patient details, scan data, and other necessary information accurately.
Type sonography reports as dictated or instructed by the Radiologist.
Ensure timely preparation and delivery of reports to patients or respective departments.
Handle basic administrative work including filing, organizing patient records, and data entry.
Support in maintaining adequate stock of consumables required for sonography.
Follow infection control, safety, and confidentiality protocols at all times.
Coordinate with other staff members to ensure smooth workflow in the Radiology department.

Qualifications & Skills:

Minimum qualification: Graduate / Diploma in Medical/Paramedical field (Radiology background preferred).
Certificate or training in medical typing/report preparation will be an added advantage.
Good typing speed with accuracy in medical terminology.
Basic knowledge of computers (MS Office, hospital software).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.

Experience:

1-3 years of experience in a hospital or diagnostic centre (preferably in Radiology/Sonography department).
Freshers with relevant training may also be considered.
