We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced L3 Solaris Administrator to join our dynamic team in Bangalore. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in managing and maintaining Solaris environments, including extensive experience with LDOMs, CDOMs, virtual migrations, storage allocations, and various Solaris versions (8.x, 9.x, 10.x, and 11.x). The candidate will also be responsible for implementing and managing Solaris redundancy, recoverability, backup, and restore strategies.

Responsibilities:



System Administration:



+ Install, configure, and maintain Solaris operating systems (8.x, 9.x, 10.x, and 11.x).
+ Perform system upgrades, patches, and security hardening.
+ Troubleshoot complex Solaris system issues and provide timely resolutions.
+ Monitor system performance and ensure optimal resource utilization.

Virtualization (LDOMs and CDOMs):



+ Design, implement, and manage Solaris Logical Domains (LDOMs) and Control Domains (CDOMs).
+ Perform virtual migrations of Solaris environments.
+ Optimize virtualized environments for performance and stability.

Storage Management:



+ Allocate and manage storage resources for Solaris systems.
+ Configure and maintain file systems, volumes, and storage arrays.
+ Perform storage capacity planning and optimization.

Redundancy and Recoverability:



+ Design, implement, and maintain existing high availability and disaster recovery solutions for Solaris environments.
+ Configure and manage Solaris Volume Manager (SVM) and other redundancy mechanisms.
+ Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures.

Backup and Restore:



+ Implement and manage Solaris backup and restore strategies using tools like ufsdump, tar, zfs send/receive or other backup software.
+ Perform regular backups and test restore procedures.
+ Develop and maintain backup policies and procedures.

Documentation:



+ Create and maintain detailed documentation of Solaris system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
+ Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Collaboration:



+ Work closely with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of Solaris systems with the overall IT infrastructure.
+ Provide technical guidance and support to other team members.
+ Participate in on-call rotation as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Solaris Administrator, with a focus on L3 support. Extensive experience with Solaris versions 8.x, 9.x, 10.x, and 11.x. Strong expertise in Solaris Logical Domains (LDOMs) and Control Domains (CDOMs). Proven experience in performing virtual migrations of Solaris environments. In-depth knowledge of storage allocation and management in Solaris environments. Solid understanding of Solaris redundancy and recoverability concepts and implementation. Experience with Solaris backup and restore procedures and tools. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of networking concepts related to solaris systems. Experience with ZFS filesystem.

Preferred Qualifications:



Solaris certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified System Administrator for Solaris). Experience with scripting languages (e.g., shell scripting, Perl, Python). Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet). Experience with Oracle databases on Solaris.
