Job Description

A solar plant designer creates detailed plans for solar power systems by analyzing sites, selecting components, and using CAD software. Key responsibilities include performing site assessments, generating electrical diagrams and schematics, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing technical support during installation and commissioning. This role requires a blend of technical skills, problem-solving, and knowledge of solar energy principles and equipment. Core responsibilities

System design:

Develop comprehensive designs for solar power systems, from residential to large-scale utility projects.

Site assessment and analysis:

Conduct site-specific engineering analysis, including feasibility studies and simulations, to determine the most effective and efficient system configuration.

Technical documentation:

Create detailed layouts, electrical diagrams (such as three-line diagrams), wiring schematics, and other technical documents.

Component selection:

Choose appropriate materials and components, including solar panels, inverters, and mounting structures.

Compliance:

Ensure all designs meet national and international regulations, environmental standards, and safety requirements.

Project support:

Provide technical direction and support to field teams during installation, commissioning, and performance monitoring phases.

Performance optimization:

Run computer simulations and monitor post-installation performance to ensure the system operates at peak efficiency.
Required skills and knowledge

Proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD) software. Strong understanding of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and solar energy principles. Knowledge of solar energy systems, including photovoltaic (PV) and concentrated solar power (CSP) technologies. Ability to perform calculations for items like AC and DC cable sizing and earthing. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
