A Solar Designer is responsible for designing and planning solar energy systems for residential, commercial, or industrial clients. This role involves creating technical layouts, performing system simulations, preparing proposals, and collaborating with engineers, project managers, and sales teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective solar solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
System Design & Planning
Develop solar PV system layouts using software (e.g., AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, Aurora Solar).
Determine optimal placement of solar panels based on sunlight exposure, roof structure, and shading.
Calculate system capacity, energy production, and expected ROI.
Technical Documentation
Prepare single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and wiring plans.
Generate BOM (Bill of Materials) and specifications for panels, inverters, and other components.
Ensure designs comply with local codes, regulations, and utility requirements.
Collaboration & Support
Work with sales teams to provide technical support for proposals.
Coordinate with project managers, installers, and engineers during project execution.
Assist in troubleshooting design issues or system modifications.
Client Interaction
Present designs and proposals to clients.
Incorporate client feedback into system design.
Continuous Improvement
Stay updated on solar technology trends, products, and industry standards.
Suggest design improvements to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
