Solar Design Engineer

to join our growing engineering team.

The Solar Design Engineer will be responsible for designing rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV systems, preparing technical drawings, performing energy calculations, and supporting project teams throughout the project lifecycle. This role demands strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in an EPC environment.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop solar PV system layouts using AutoCAD, PVSyst, Helioscope, SketchUp, or similar tools. Conduct site assessments, shading analysis, and energy generation simulations. Prepare SLDs (Single Line Diagrams), wiring diagrams, cable sizing, and protection system design. Create Bill of Materials (BOM) and provide technical inputs to procurement teams. Ensure designs comply with relevant electrical codes, safety standards, and utility requirements. Coordinate with project managers, construction teams, and clients during design and implementation. Optimize system performance and integrate best engineering practices. Support sales team with technical proposals and feasibility studies.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or related field. 1-3+ years of experience in solar PV system design (preferably in EPC projects). Proficiency in AutoCAD and solar design software (PVSyst / Helioscope / Aurora). Strong understanding of PV system components, electrical codes (NEC/IEC), and utility norms. Ability to prepare accurate technical documents and calculations.

Preferred:

Experience designing both rooftop and ground-mounted systems. Knowledge of energy storage systems (ESS/BESS). Familiarity with project management workflows.
