The Opportunity

The

Enterprise and Platform Engineering

teams support our largest customers by
delivering scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure for engineering teams working on
advanced CAD and Product Data Management (PDM) workflows.
As a

Principal Engineer

, you will be instrumental in designing and developing
high-performance Java solutions for the Onshape SaaS platform. You'll work in a
cloud-native environment, contributing to a large and evolving codebase, and ensuring
the platform's scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

In this role, you will:

Design and implement robust, efficient, and scalable Java code for a modern
SaaS platform.
Troubleshoot and optimize performance across distributed cloud-native
systems.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality product
increments every three weeks.
Mentor junior engineers and interns, fostering a culture of technical excellence
and continuous learning.
Influence architectural decisions, conduct code reviews, and promote
engineering best practices.
We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced agile environment and is
passionate about mentoring while staying hands-on with code.

Your Team

You'll be part of the

What You Need to Succeed

8+ years

of experience building distributed, data-intensive systems using

Java

and NoSQL databases like

MongoDB

.
Deep expertise in

Java and its ecosystem

, with strong foundations in

computer science fundamentals

, including algorithms and data structures.
Proven experience developing

multi-tenant backend systems

,

RESTful

APIs

, and services using

Java, Spring Framework

, and

MongoDB

.
Strong skills in

troubleshooting, debugging

performance tuning

cloud-native environments.
Experience building solutions for

enterprise customers
