Mission and objectives:
The United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) manages and implements the United Nations programme on the peaceful uses of outer space and supports UNOV/UNODC with various operational services.
As part of the United Nations Office at Vienna, the Information Technology Service (ITS) through its India Technology Hub (ITH) forms part of the ITS's vital delivery pillars in keeping with the UN's revised ICT strategy and is responsible for Information Technology Support, focusing on innovative, sustainable, affordable and robust digital solutions, cybersecurity measures and trainings to meet UNOV/UNODC requirements, also enabling availability of the solutions more generally across the UN Secretariat entities and beyond.
Context:

Task description:
The ITH based in New Delhi forms part of the vital delivery pillars of the ITS in keeping with the UN's revised ICT strategy. As part of this strategy and under the direct supervision of the Head - ITH, the Software Quality Associate will be responsible for the following functions:

• Participate in the testing, debugging, and implementation of new application systems releases, modules, and functionalities.
• Responsible for ensuring the quality, accuracy, and accessibility of all digital learning content developed and deployed through the organization's Learning Management System (LMS).
• Reviewing and validating the functionality of e-learning courses, including multimedia elements, interactive assessments, and ensuring compliance with SCORM and xAPI standards
• Undertakes rigorous manual testing of applications software.
• Conducting comprehensive cross-browser and cross-device testing to ensure compatibility and adherence to accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1), while collaborating closely with instructional designers, developers, and project managers to identify, report, and resolve functional and usability issues.
• Responsible for maintaining test documentation, reporting defects using tools like JIRA, and participating in user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure a seamless learner experience.
• Develops test cases and automates standard testing procedures using UN-established standards for IT technologies, programming languages, and tools.
• Analyze the collected error/defect data to better understand how errors are introduced and can be eliminated. Ensure tight management of milestones and progress of ongoing software development projects.
• Documents testing and quality assurance processes and communicate the same to the team in a clear manner.
• Perform quality assurance issues prioritization and resolution facilitation.
• Ensure traceability of test cases to requirements, working with the project to ensure all requirements are tested.
• Serve as a team member in the Quality Assurance, Software Testing, planning, specification and design of computer application systems;
• Works with developers to identify unit testing coverage and ensure any gaps are documented and addressed.
• Performs workflow analysis and recommends quality improvements.
• Ensures data security and integrity.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Alteast seven years of experience in software testing .
• Sound knowledge of various technologies and their application in project

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in New Delhi. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions.
The contract lasts for the period indicated above with possibility of extensions subject to availability of funding, operational necessity and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectation of renewal of the assignment.
This assignment is part of the special programme initiative. As per the UN Volunteer Conditions of Service, Section XVIII, the Conditions for this assignment are amended as follows:
- The UN Volunteer is not eligible for assignment travel and relocation travel costs
- Access to UNV learning will be restricted to mandatory courses and free-of-charge learning resources provided by UNV.
