Job Description

We are looking for a Software Packaging and Deployment Engineer with 2-3 years of specialized experience in creating robust installation solutions for the Windows platform. The ideal candidate will have deep technical knowledge of MSI (Windows Installer) and MSP (Patching) development, utilizing InstallShield to manage complex software lifecycles. You will be responsible for ensuring high-quality software delivery through advanced scripting, rigorous debugging, and modern CI/CD integration.



MSI/MSP Engineering: Architect and develop new Basic MSI and InstallScript MSI projects from scratch. Design efficient MSP patches for incremental updates and critical hotfixes. Custom Logic Development: Implement advanced installation logic using InstallScript and other scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell or Python) to handle custom actions, registry modifications, and system configurations. Advanced Debugging: Perform root-cause analysis on complex installation failures using tools like ORCA, MSI Log Analyzer, and Process Monitor. Version Control & Collaboration: Manage installer codebases and branching strategies using Git. Track development progress, bugs, and release versions within JIRA. CI/CD Integration: Design and maintain automated build pipelines that integrate InstallShield projects into the broader CI/CD ecosystem (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins). System Modernization: Participate in "shift-left" security initiatives by integrating automated vulnerability scans into the installation pipeline.
Required Technical Skills


Installer Tools: 2-3 years of hands-on experience with InstallShield (Premier/Professional). Packaging Expertise: Strong command of the Windows Installer (MSI) database structure, including tables, sequences, and properties. Scripting: Proficiency in InstallScript and at least one general-purpose scripting language such as PowerShell or Python. Workflow Tools: Competency in Git (merging, rebasing, LFS) and JIRA (issue tracking and release management). CI/CD Knowledge: Practical understanding of pipeline automation, build artifacts, and environment parity.

Preferred Qualifications


Experience with MSIX packaging and modern management via Microsoft Intune or SCCM. Familiarity with digital signature workflows and certificate management in a 2026 regulatory environment. Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
