Position Overview

Modeling Simulation and Virtualization engineers at Boeing make sure that products at the world's largest aerospace company continue to meet the highest standards. From quality and reliability, to safety and performance, their expertise is vital to the concept, design and certifications of a wide variety of commercial and military systems. MSV org - based in Bangalore, India is an integral part of Boeing India Software and is engaged in producing digital twins for Airplanes that allow product integration verification and also serving as training platforms.

Boeing India Engineering Software has an immediate opening for Software Engineering Manager for Hardware Virtualization. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading team for development of Virtual Machines of Avionics Hardware.

Position Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will perform the following duties:

This position will also acquire talent and build the team further, motivate, develop and manage employees and provide technical oversight to achieve excellent technical and business outcomes; i.e., provide technical leadership and project management guidance to the team.

This position will engage with internal and external stakeholders, maintain relationships/partnerships with customers, peers and partners to develop strategies, goals and objectives that are consistent with the global Boeing Software Engineering strategy.

This position will acquire resources for departmental activities, develop and administer budgets, schedules and performance standards, as well as lead process improvements to meet the requirements of internal stakeholders.

This position will provide project management guidance to the (internal and external) team, and be responsible for coordinating and communicating regularly with experts in Boeing Engineering & Technology organizations around the world. This position will also provide periodic updates to Boeing management in the form of progress reports, project summaries, and other related documents.

This position represents Boeing in interactions with senior leaders from Indian Industry, academia, Indian Government organizations, and Boeing's partners in India. This position will also identify sources in India capable of meeting Boeing's engineering needs, for developing engagement options, and implementing the selected options to achieve the desired technical capabilities.

This position will support initiatives of Boeing Enterprise Engineering Centre India related to employee development, customer engagement, strategic relations, Government interactions, etc.

This position will require some travel within India and internationally. This position will be located in the Boeing India Engineering and Technology Center, Bangalore, India.

Extensive knowledge of software architecture and design methodologies. Ability to synthesize software architectures and designs that meet software requirements, characteristics and constraints.

Expertise in embedded software development and testing tools, capability and usage. Minimum of 5 years of hands-on Low Level Software Development exp with Linux or any other RTOS.

Experienced in drafting roadmaps and deriving technical strategy, Translate business information/technical requirements into an architectural blueprint

Candidate must be a self-starter with a positive attitude, high ethics, and a track record of working successfully under pressure in a time-constrained environment.

Strategic thinking and execution - must be able to develop comprehensive India intelligence/ knowledge, and communicate with Boeing Engineering and Technology organizations, identify capacity/capability to perform current and projected engineering work statement, conduct on-site evaluations and assessments regarding their ability to perform these activities.

Must be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams within Boeing and external partners.

Develop and maintain relationships / partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners to develop collaborative plans and execute on projects.

Must be flexible, with a high tolerance for organizational complexity and ability to work with team members across different cultures and time-zones

Demonstrate strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Be fluent in written and spoken English, and have high degree of proficiency with MS Office tools to prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, proposals, and Statements of Work.

Must have experience leading teams and have the ability to mentor and teach juniors and partners to accomplish project and departmental goals and objectives.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

Bachelor or Master in Engineering (preferably in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation or equivalent discipline) with 12 or more years of experience.

  • Experience in Low Level Software Development, Linux / RTOS, Embedded and Application Software
  • Familiarity with computer system architecture, microprocessor, and microcontroller fundamentals (caches, buses, memory controllers, dma, PCI etc)
  • Familiarity with Modeling ,sim and test environments
  • Understanding of Avionics bus protocols - A429,A661, A664 etc with exposure to Avionics integration and interfacing is desired.
  • Understanding of Virtualization concepts, hypervisors and KVM/QEMU is a plus
  • Strong experience with Unit Test, integration, and regression test concepts and architectures (Jira/TFS experience and test plan configuration desired with continuous integration deployment focus)
  • Systems design and strong understanding of the software development lifecycle in an agile environment.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Legally authorized to work in India. Experience in end to end design development of software systems. Experience owning, supervising and delivering concurrent software releases using iterative/agile techniques, ensuring on-time delivery and good quality. Excellent Technology management, project management skills; demonstrated success executing complex engineering projects with diverse technical teams; management of globally dispersed teams highly-preferred
