Pay Rate: $55.00-$60.00/hr
Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm
Education: BS/MS in Computer Science or 7 years equivalent experience
Description
This is an exciting opportunity for a backend-focused Software Engineer III with strong Python expertise to design, build, and operate scalable APIs, data services, and pipelines. You'll work alongside cross-functional teams to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performance backend systems, leveraging Python, PostgreSQL, ORMs, GraphQL, and Apache Airflow. The role offers the chance to work on complex, real-world problems while contributing to impactful systems that support global operations.
What You'll Do

• Build and maintain backend services using Python, FastAPI/Django, and PostgreSQL
• Develop REST and GraphQL APIs, including schemas, resolvers, pagination, and authorization
• Design and optimize relational databases, queries, and ORM integration (SQLAlchemy)
• Create and operate data pipelines with Apache Airflow (DAG design, scheduling, monitoring)
• Ensure code quality via unit/integration tests and CI/CD pipelines
• Apply secure development practices and observability (logging, metrics, tracing, alerting)
• Collaborate with product owners, data scientists, and front-end engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions

Required Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or 7 years equivalent experience
• 5+ years of professional backend Python development experience
• Strong knowledge of SQL/PostgreSQL, ORMs, and microservice architecture
• Experience with Agile development, Git-based version control, and CI/CD
• Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with GraphQL APIs (Strawberry/Graphene)
• Experience with Apache Airflow and ETL/ELT workflows
• AWS cloud experience, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/OpenTofu, CloudFormation)
• Background in applied ML integrations or vector-store systems
