DEPARTMENT BRIEF
The Portfolio Services and Benchmarks Group is currently seeking a talented individual to take on a development role within the team. The team is responsible for the development, enhancement and support of suite of portfolio services products . In this position, the engineer will be participating as an individual contributor, focused on delivering high quality and performant code.
ROLE BRIEF
Analytical Product Engineering is responsible for FactSets industry leading Portfolio, Risk, Quantitative, Fixed Income products and Portfolio Services. Portfolio Services is an integrated suite of services that ensures consistent, accurate, and timely processing of portfolio and security level analytics, accessed through workstation, mobile, and feeds.
These products are used by thousands of Asset Managers around the world every day to assist with investment decisions, analysis of performance, risk management, and the presentation of results. Analytical Product Engineerings product space represents a high growth opportunity for FactSet.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop new applications and enhancements to existing Portfolio Service Product
Maintain and fix bugs in existing Portfolio Service Product applications
Work with Portfolio Service Product Development to understand project requirements and work with other Analytics Engineers on the technical design of those solutions
Provide regular project status updates to Team Lead
Apply best practices to their own work, and propagate this information within the team
Willingness to work as a member of a team, including participating in peer code reviews and maintaining project and operational documentation
Collaborate with other engineers and Product Developers in a Scrum Agile environment using Jira and Confluence
Estimate task sizes and regularly communicate progress in daily standups and biweekly Scrum meetings
Coordinate with other teams across offices and departments
REQUIRED SKILLS
3-6 years of industry experience
Expertise with C#, Java
Expertise with object-oriented design principles
Professional experience working on Linux OS, including Bash scripting, Python, or Perl
Professional JavaScript experience
Nice to have experience with JavaScript-based MVC frameworks, especially AngularJS, Vue.Js, or React
Nice to have experience in front end unit testing frameworks like Jasmine, Jest and e2e testing is required
Experience building RESTful services
Ability to articulate and teach development best practices
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to set own goals based on shifting priorities for self and others
Ability to work as part of a geographically diverse team
Ability to create and review documentation and test plans
Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical people
B.Tech or M.Tech in Computer Science or equivalent.
