As a software developer, you will be responsible for implementing technical solutions based on business requirements. You will work collaboratively with colleagues from different job roles to design, prioritize, and execute technical tasks. As a Software Engineer II, you will: Rapidly develop scalable, flexible, and high-performance systems Collaborate with a positive and proactive mindset Troubleshoot and solve system issues, prioritizing customer impact Advocate for development best practices within the team Take ownership of micro-services and services Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical audiences when addressing problems Understand business processes and support our customers, whether they are looking for accommodations, attractions, or flights Contribute to the growth of Booking.com through recruitment efforts, such as interviewing and onboarding We are looking for developers who enjoy problem-solving and believe in the power of a positive mindset and the right tools. To fit our team, you should have a minimum of 3-12 years of software development experience, with a strong proficiency in Java. You should also have experience working on products that have a significant impact and possess excellent written and spoken communication skills. The following technical skills are highly desirable: TypeScript and Java programming languages AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB or RDS, CloudFormation, IAM, and Step Functions Understanding of serverless architectures and event-driven programming API development, including designing and developing RESTful APIs and API security best practices NoSQL or relational databases, query optimization, and database schema design Experience with testing frameworks like Cucumber for Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) Proficiency in Git and CI/CD pipelines Monitoring and logging with tools like AWS CloudWatch and ELK stack Experience with observability and distributed tracing using OpenTelemetry Knowledge of AWS security best practices and understanding of OWASP top 10 security risks Code quality and performance optimization techniques Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like CloudFormation Documentation skills, including architectural diagrams and reports Knowledge of other relevant AWS services, message queuing systems, GraphQL, and performance tuning techniques As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a world-renowned product that impacts millions of travelers worldwide.
