Location: Remote
Pay Rate: $42.70 - $55.16/hour
Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm
Education: Bachelor's degree required (Master's preferred)
Description
We are seeking a full stack Software Engineer II to maintain and enhance existing Adobe ColdFusion applications and to design and build new applications using Python and Vue.js. The ideal candidate will work in an Agile environment, collaborating with users, designers, and developers to deliver robust end-to-end solutions that support complex research and discovery workflows.
Scope of Position
Own, maintain, and support existing ColdFusion applications, including debugging, documenting issues, and delivering fixes and enhancements
Design and build new services and user interfaces using Python (e.g., Django) and Vue.js
Develop clean, maintainable, and testable code across the stack (frontend, backend, and database)
Collaborate with product, UX, and engineering peers to translate requirements into robust solutions
Participate in Agile ceremonies; provide daily progress updates and deliver sprint commitments
Implement automated testing for Vue.js and ColdFusion components
Use Git for version control and GitLab for CI/CD pipelines
Apply application architecture patterns (e.g., MVC, MVVM) and reusable, API-centric design
Contribute to performance tuning and optimization across frontend, backend, and database layers
Support ColdFusion server deployments and related operational tasks
Required Skills/Experience
Bachelor's degree required (MS preferred)
5+ years proven Adobe ColdFusion development experience (must have, do not submit candidates without this experience)
5+ years professional software/application development experience
Foundational and functional knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and design principles with proven ability to design and build code
RESTful API design and versioning in ColdFusion; documenting APIs with OpenAPI/Swagger
Understanding of layered architecture with separation of concerns across controller/handler, service, and DAO/Repository layers
Strong proficiency in Python and related web frameworks (e.g., Django)
Strong frontend skills with Vue.js, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS, and Bootstrap
Hands-on experience with Git and Git-based workflows
Experience with CI/CD processes and tooling (GitLab preferred)
Experience writing automated tests for Vue.js and ColdFusion codebases
Working knowledge of common application architectures (MVC, MVVM)
Desired Skills
Familiarity with Oracle and SQL (schema design, queries, optimization)
Experience with ColdFusion server deployment and administration
Background in reusable, component-based development and API-first design
Knowledge of performance optimization techniques and best coding practices
Soft Skills
Experience with lab management systems or research applications
Ability to thrive in a global, distributed team with ambitious goals
Flexible, service-oriented teammate with a proactive, ownership mindset
Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills
Travel Requirement
Approximately 15% domestic travel

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $42.70 to $55.16. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
