Research LRL Tech@Lilly unites science with technology to accelerate LRL pipeline and to deliver therapeutic innovations. Our work helps researchers follow the science to understand the disease as well as to identify potential therapies. We achieve this by leveraging technology and platforms to streamline scientific experimentation. We organize and manage high-quality data to drive analysis. We build advanced analytics platforms for scientists to rapidly analyze and visualize data in a scalable and reproducible way. As a software engineer, you will be part of the team in LCCI, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining both the front-end and back-end components of our web applications. You will work closely with product managers, UI/UX designers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality software solutions. Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to work in a highly technical, high pace, team focused, and scientifically challenging areas to accommodate ever-changing research environment. Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain scalable and responsive web applications with a strong focus on user experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze system requirements.
  • Design and implement efficient and secure APIs for communication between front-end and back-end systems.
  • Create and maintain databases, ensuring data integrity and security.
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use, promoting code quality and modularity.
  • Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Implement and maintain automated testing to ensure software reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues across the full stack, identifying and fixing performance bottlenecks and bugs.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest web development trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Mentor and collaborate with junior developers, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
Essential Skills:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Proven experience as a Full Stack Engineer or similar role, showcasing completed web applications and projects.
  • Proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Strong understanding of back-end technologies like Node.js, Python, Ruby on Rails, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience with database technologies like SQL (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) or NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Redis).
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs and API design principles.
  • Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git.
  • Ability to work in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with different stakeholders.
Desired Skills:
  • Certified in AWS/Azure or other cloud compute technologies.
  • Knowledge of Serverless compute
  • Contributed to open source projects.
