Job Description

Verisk Property Claims Services is seeking a Platform Engineer with a strong foundation in AWS to join our Platform Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of networking, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and cloud computing, coupled with hands-on technical skills and the ability to master new technologies. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset are essential.


As a Platform Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of applications and services running on AWS. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure secure, scalable, and efficient systems, leveraging your operational expertise to uphold best practices in networking, security, and automation. Key areas include AWS CDK and Terraform construct libraries, CI/CD pipelines, environment setups, deployment strategies, monitoring, and cost optimization.

Must-Have Skills


At least 3 years of proven commercial experience building and maintaining platforms on AWS, using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC). Practical knowledge of core networking concepts, including routing, DNS, firewalls, and high availability. Proficiency in Linux administration and shell scripting. Commercial software development and scripting experience with Python, Java, TypeScript and Bash. Demonstrated ability to learn independently and rapidly prototype ideas. At least one mid-tier AWS Certification such as Certified Solutions Architect (Associate). A proactive approach to challenging the status quo and driving improvements.
Nice-to-Have Skills


Experience designing and deploying databases and web applications. Knowledge of application performance monitoring (APM) tools and practices. Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments. A keen eye for identifying opportunities to automate and optimize manual processes.
