As BI Senior Software engineer, you will work with cutting edge technologies, a Greenplum, Pentaho, and Angular based Enterprise Reporting environment. This will involve work with the database, dashboards and business intelligence reports. The role resides within Epsilons Enterprise Reporting (ER) production support team.
The BI Senior Software engineer will assist in fixing the issues for reporting and analytics capability for users of the data warehouse. This is the worlds largest warehouse in the automotive marketing / loyalty space and is developed, supported and deployed in a unique onsite offshore, associate-vendor model.
What youll do
The position requires strong MS SQL server, PostgreSQL database knowledge to work on a complex rule based multi-channel marketing campaign platform supporting Fortune 100 companies.
Perform analysis, production support and maintenance of Enterprise Reporting solutions.
Support end-to-end Business Intelligence Solutions comprising data warehouses, ETL streams, Aggregate Tables, reports, and dashboards from requirements gathering to production deployment and support.
Mentor and assist in the support to more junior team members.
Provide support around data warehouse, data marts, reporting data and ETL sub systems for the Enterprise Data warehousing team.
Support, maintain, monitor, and tune the performance of the OLAP cubes and data marts.
Create process to identify failed report subscriptions, to provide better support for critical report failures.
Support and automate robust processes to launch, support and enhance the product suite.
Plan, run, and manage meetings with internal and external clients (onsite and offshore) as well as run with and complete important support initiatives.
Prepare and dispense work assignments, provide mentorship and guidance.
Resolve the production support issues as per SLA.
Attend the sprint review meetings with development team/product teams.
Support during the monthly/Quarterly maintenance or Patching activities.
Communication with QA, product and production support teams etc. to address the issues
Assistance of Production Support team for troubleshooting issues
Development work for automation of operational tasks.
Prepare and dispense work assignments, provide guidance, and/or review the work of other team members.
Recommend business process flow improvements and clearly communicate problem/resolution process to project management.
Administer full project documentation efforts in accordance with policy and procedure
Perform root cause analysis (RCA)
Work with cross-functional teams during crisis to address and resolve complex incidents and problems in addition to assessment, analysis, and resolution of cross-functional issues.
Update/create Knowledge Base Articles and case studies as necessary. Assist in the creation and improvement of Knowledge Management

Qualifications
5-9 years of IT industry experience required.
Excellent skills in MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL.
Basic knowledge of Unix environment /Oracle PL/SQL.
Knowledge of database architecture and best practices for MS SQL, PostgreSQL, coding style and application tuning.
Excellent in impact-analysis and root cause analysis.
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities with ability to anticipate and avoid problems.
Experience in performance tuning, application monitoring and support of production applications with distributed teams.
Ability to work well within a team environment that includes geographically distributed team members.
Ability to work within tight deadlines and effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and an ability to communicate with internal and external customers and all levels of management, including communicating technical information to nontechnical audiences.
Ability to design and build flexible and extensible systems with focus on code reuse and generation.
Familiar with Application Development Life Cycle and be able to independently participate in each components.
Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, or equivalent
Technical
Working knowledge of MS SQL Server and experience in automotive marketing and/or CRM applications preferred.
Strong knowledge in MS SQL and PostgreSQL.
Basic knowledge of Unix, Linux, Oracle SQL , PL/SQL.
