OCI API Gateway is a cloud service built and managed by Oracle to enable enterprises to build and secure their APIs. It is a 24x7 enterprise-grade cloud service running at scale in dozens of worldwide commercial, government, and private data centres. We built it from the ground up on the OCI Platform as the foundation of Oracle's next-generation API product suite. It serves many diverse customer needs, and we have a long and extensive roadmap of compelling and technically challenging features.
We are looking for a world-class Software Development Manager (M3) to help us build best-in-class services and lead a team of exceptional engineers. As an ideal candidate, you will have deep knowledge of large-scale services in a distributed cloud environment and proven experience leading high-performing engineering teams. You will champion creating an engineering environment that embodies the best development and testing practices for delivering secure, scalable, and highly available services. You should thrive in a collaborative, hybrid, and agile environment and be passionate about continuous learning and innovation.
You will be leading a dynamic team working on the Oracle API Gateway service, directly responsible for ensuring customer success by delivering cutting-edge features and operating the service with excellence. You will architect and design solutions to challenging problems in distributed systems, virtualized infrastructure, and highly available services. You will guide your team to automate DevOps procedures and continuously improve site reliability engineering practices, leading passionate engineers who are fueled by serving customers and pushing the innovation and quality bar higher.

Responsibilities:
As a Software Development Senior Manager you will be required to:

• Lead a team that builds new features, enhancements and bug-fixes for the service - obtain results through the people you lead
• Influence and review design decisions, project planning, release planning, delivery and operational excellence of all changes going to production environments
• Manage costs, optimize resources and lead process improvements - build economically viable, fiscally competitive and streamlined teams
• Help maintain and improve the build and test systems including systems for performance and scalability testing
• Clearly communicate the business rationale for any change and gain support of employees - align roles, systems and processes with the direction of the change
• Work with internal and external teams to unblock development and meet committed release dates
• Manage our on-call rotation and help the team to resolve complex distributed network issues through debugging, communication and collaboration with multiple teams across OCI
• Participate in roadmap planning, talent review and goal setting
• Have excellent hiring skills and build a strong self-managed team
• Role model OCI values and foster a culture of excellence and innovation
