As a SDM on this team, you will be responsible for hiring and leading a team of engineers in designing and building innovative delivery experience for our customers. You will work with a diverse, talented, experienced, tech, product, and UX team members. You will innovate to design simple but scalable solutions for problems never solved before that enforce Amazon's Customer Obsession. You will have the opportunity to work with business partners, senior leadership and engineers, influence and drive product vision and lead the design of our systems.
Key job responsibilities
Hire, lead and develop a high performing team of engineers which owns a set of services that power post purchase experience for Amazon across 23 countries.
Strong abilities to partner with stakeholders across product, tech and other teams within Amazon Stores org that leverage our services and deliver on team/ organization goals
Defining the strategy and product/technical roadmap
Maintain a high bar on resiliency and operational health of the systems owned by your team
Drive yearly and quarterly roadmap planning making right tradeoffs / judgment calls depending on the technical and business needs
A day in the life
1:1 with engineers in your team, stakeholders and leaders
Participate in team rituals - Sprint planning, Daily stand up, Sprint demo, backlog grooming
Monitor / improve operational health of the systems owned by your team - Ticket analysis, software risks
Roadmap development working with product team and Senior engineers
Mentoring and career development of engineers in your team
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

7+ years of engineering experience
3+ years of engineering team management experience
8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
Experience partnering with product or program management teams
Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
