RDS Open Source is an exciting area of innovation for AWS, and PostgreSQL is one of the most strategic projects at Amazon. We help customers with performance, availability and durability, with one of the world's most advanced open source databases. The systems we build manage one of the largest fleet of databases in the world. We build innovations for the next set of RDS services and to handle our exponential growth in scale.
Not only do we have deep database and systems programming problems to solve for our customers, but we also minimize the effort required to maintain relational databases by automating administrative tasks like backup / restore, scaling CPU / RAM / storage and replication / failover for high availability, allowing our customers to spend their valuable time focused on building their businesses.
We have challenging problems to solve in distributed systems, concurrency, database internals, caching, query optimization, languages, and performance engineering. Key job responsibilities
Hire, manage, and grow your team of diverse engineers
Create and maintain short and long-term product roadmap including innovations for AWS customers
Drive innovation through reviews with internal and external stakeholders to grow your organization's services

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
7 years of relevant engineering experience
3 years of people management experience, managing engineers
Experience in partnering with product and program management teams
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent technical education and work experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in designing and building sophisticated fault-tolerant distributed systems
Entrepreneurial spirit combined with strong program and product management skills.
A deep understanding of software engineering practices, object oriented analysis & design, design patterns and algorithms
Experience with distributed databases and/or storage systems
Experience delivering large-scale public-facing cloud services
Background developing database internals or highly available database services
