• Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
• 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.

Job summary The Challenge: Whole Foods Market is looking for Software Development Engineers who are passionate and innovative that have a heart for Nourishing People and the Planet to join our newly formed Engineering Services team. This team will be tackling some of our most complex and challenging Supply Chain and In-store projects and will deliver innovative technical solutions to advance the retail grocery industry. The Role: Everyone on the team needs to be entrepreneurial, wear many hats and work in a highly collaborative environment. As a Software Development Engineer, you will help tackle a diverse landscape of technical challenges. We are an early-stage initiative, and you will play an active role in translating business requirements into concrete systems and prototyping concepts, and working with technology leaders within the team and across the business. The Work: You will design, develop and deploy reliable distributed solutions that operate at Amazon scale. You will work with a variety of core languages and technologies including Java, Linux, and AWS services. You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and will have the opportunity to redefine an industry while working with different teams across Amazon and Whole Foods Market. Experience working with service oriented architectures and web-based solutions. • Experience in understanding different design approaches and patterns • Experience working on the AWS technologies. • Experience with NoSQL and relational databases. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Experience working on Agile processes (Scrum, Kanban).
