Job Summary

:

The Slitting Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining slitting machines used to slit CRGO (Cold-Rolled Grain-Oriented) steel coils into specified widths. This role ensures precision, material handling safety, and adherence to quality standards specific to CRGO material used primarily in transformer manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

:

Operate slitting machines to process CRGO coils as per job orders and customer specifications. Set up machine parameters such as blade spacing, tension, speed, and guide settings according to coil dimensions and required slit widths. Inspect incoming coils for quality and conformity before slitting. Monitor the slitting process and make necessary adjustments to ensure precision and prevent edge burrs or core loss. Ensure correct handling of CRGO steel to prevent scratches, stress, or magnetic property degradation. Perform in-process and final quality checks using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools. Safely operate crane or hoist equipment to load/unload coils and slit strips. Maintain cleanliness and perform routine maintenance of the slitting machine. Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or material defects to the supervisor. Document production output, material usage, and downtime in production logs. Follow safety standards, wearing appropriate PPE, and adhering to company procedures at all times.

Qualifications & Skills

:

High School Diploma or ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Minimum 0 TO 2 years of experience operating slitting machines, preferably in the CRGO or electrical steel industry. Strong understanding of CRGO material characteristics and handling protocols. Ability to read technical drawings and job specifications. Familiarity with measuring instruments and quality inspection techniques. Physically fit and able to handle moderate to heavy lifting. Good attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and teamwork.
