The Site Supervisor oversees daily operations of the firewood production site, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality processing of firewood products. This role includes coordinating staff, managing equipment, maintaining production targets, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Daily Operations Management
Oversee all firewood processing activities including cutting, splitting, seasoning, stacking, and packaging.
Plan and coordinate workflow to meet production quotas and delivery schedules.
Monitor product quality to ensure proper sizing, moisture content, and consistency.
2. Staff Supervision
Assign tasks and supervise production crew workers, equipment operators, and yard laborers.
Train staff in equipment use, safety procedures, and production standards.
Monitor performance and provide feedback, coaching, or corrective actions as needed.
3. Equipment & Maintenance
Ensure proper use, inspection, and maintenance of chainsaws, splitters, processors, conveyors, loaders, and other machinery.
Report equipment issues and coordinate repairs or scheduled servicing.
4. Safety & Compliance
Enforce workplace health and safety policies, including PPE use and safe handling of tools and machinery.
Conduct safety briefings and maintain up-to-date safety records.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, such as proper wood storage, waste handling, and site cleanliness.
5. Inventory & Materials Management
Track log and firewood inventory levels, monitor moisture content, and maintain accurate production logs.
Coordinate deliveries of raw logs and shipments of finished firewood with logistics teams.
Maintain organized storage areas for equipment, tools, and finished product.
6. Administration & Reporting
Prepare daily/weekly production reports.
Assist with scheduling, timekeeping, and operational budgeting.
Communicate operational needs and concerns to management.
Skills & Qualifications Essential
Experience in forestry, firewood production, sawmill operations, or general industrial supervision.
Strong leadership and team-management skills.
Knowledge of chainsaw operation, firewood processing equipment, and basic mechanical troubleshooting.
Understanding of workplace safety standards (e.g., OSHA or local equivalents).
Ability to operate heavy equipment (e.g., skid steer, loader, tractor.
Preferred
Certifications such as chainsaw safety, first aid/CPR, or heavy-equipment operation.
Experience with moisture meters and firewood production tracking software.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in outdoor environments year-round (heat, cold, rain, snow).
Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50-75 lbs).
Ability to safely operate and work around machinery and loud equipment.
A personal two-wheeler is required for material purchasing, site errands, and other work-related duties.
Valid driving license mandatory.
Travel allowance/fuel reimbursement provided (if applicable) if it is used only for operational purpose.
