The Site Safety Officer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing health and safety policies and procedures at the project site. The role ensures compliance with applicable safety regulations and standards in order to maintain a safe and healthy working environment and to minimize the risk of accidents, injuries, and property damage.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure full compliance with occupational health and safety laws, regulations, and company policies
Conduct routine site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards
Recommend and implement corrective and preventive safety measures
Monitor the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all site personnel
Deliver safety orientations, training sessions, and toolbox meetings
Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports
Maintain accurate safety documentation, records, and reports
Enforce safety rules and stop unsafe work practices when necessary
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and supervisors on safety-related matters
Qualifications and Requirements
Diploma or certification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline
Proven knowledge of relevant safety legislation, standards, and best practices
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
Working Conditions
Primarily based on construction or industrial project sites
May be exposed to environmental elements, machinery, and noise
Requires regular site inspections and physical presence on-site
