Site Reliability Engineer, RELX India

Locations: Chennai/Mumbai
Time type: Full time

About the Role:
SRE, to help build out, maintain, and troubleshoot our rapidly expanding infrastructure who have background within software development/Operations Management/Systems Engineering, can work on their own initiative, mentor team members and collaborate ideas.

About the Team:
Our new SRE will be part of a talented team of engineers that demonstrate superb technical competency, delivering mission critical infrastructure and ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security.

The responsibilities of an SRE include:

• Working collaboratively with software engineering to administer infrastructure and deployment requirements.
• Provisioning, configuring, and maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure defined as code.
• Ensuring configuration and compliance with configuration management tools
• Building and maintaining operational tools for deployment, monitoring, and analysis of AWS infrastructure and systems
• Writing and maintaining custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
• Participating in the design of information and operational support systems
• Troubleshooting problems across a wide array of services and functional areas
• Providing 2nd and 3rd level support.

Demonstrable experience:

• 5+ years of work experience.
• Building and maintaining AWS infrastructure (VPC, Security Groups, IAM, ECS, EKS, S3, EC2)
• Deploying and managing infrastructure with Terraform
• Configuration management tools such as Puppet and Ansible
• Experience with Kubernetes in a Production Environment, specifically in AWS EKS
• Familiarity with Docker, GitHub, ELK and deploying applications on AWS.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana
• Networking and Linux/Windows administration skills
• Strong scripting skills in languages such as shell scripts, Powershell, BASH, and Python
• Experience in providing operational support.

In addition to the required experience, the ideal candidate should possess the following skills and abilities:

• Ability to learn/use a wide variety of open-source technologies and tools.
• A strong bias for action and ownership
• Problem solving skills

Accountabilities:

• Recommend and plan use of new system features and hardware for new products and servers to improve overall operation of system and productivity of staff.
• Demonstrate expertise and thorough understanding of major system components in completing assigned tasks.
• Establish standards and guidelines for job control/scripts and associated procedures.
• Act as a mentor to other systems engineering team members, as necessary and appropriate.
• Work closely with support groups to refine system monitoring and reporting, and to assist them in their analysis and problem recovery.
