The Oracle Database team supports all OCI software engineering teams. Every new OCI service and every new OCI region increases the number of databases we're responsible for. These scaling challenges demand deep Oracle Database Administration skills and bold leveraging of Oracle technologies and engineering. As a member of this team, database availability, performance, and customer satisfaction will be your top objectives.


Database Administrators / Engineers will spend a significant amount of their time doing operational and reactive work related to maintaining our production databases. When not working on operational issues, the Database Administrator/Engineer is working on engineering tasks such as automation, self-healing monitors, and other efforts to improve operational excellence and database stability. Work with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team on the shared full stack ownership of a collection of services and/or technology areas. Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of production services. Responsible for the design and delivery of the mission critical stack, with focus on security, resiliency, scale, and performance. Authority for end-to-end performance and operability. Partner with development teams in defining and implementing improvements in service architecture. Articulate technical characteristics of services and technology areas and guide Development Teams to engineer and add premier capabilities to the Oracle Cloud service portfolio. Understand and communicate the scale, capacity, security, performance attributes, and requirements of the service and technology stack. Demonstrate clear understanding of automation and orchestration principles. Act as ultimate escalation point for complex or critical issues that have not yet been documented as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Utilize a deep understanding of service topology and their dependencies required to troubleshoot issues and define mitigations. Understand and explain the affect of product architecture decisions on distributed systems. Professional curiosity and a desire to a develop deep understanding of services and technologies.

Qualifications include:


3+ years experience in Oracle Database Administration, DevOps or System Engineering/Automation. Possess knowledge of performing detailed performance analysis, tuning, and diagnostics for Oracle 19c Databases Experience with CI/CD systems and release automation tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo, or similar. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Shell. Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools such as Chef, Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform Possess leadership experience to ensure appropriate changes, upgrades, and enhancements are made based on the technical analysis Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field work Five or more years of experience in Oracle Database Engineering Deep understanding and expertise in database management features Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills Ability to work in a very fast paced and exciting environment Excellent command of written and spoken English
