The Solar Site Engineer is responsible for executing on-site installation, commissioning, and maintenance of rooftop and ground-mounted solar power systems. The role ensures that projects are implemented safely, efficiently, and as per technical standards.
Key Responsibilities1. Site Assessment & Planning
Conduct site surveys including shadow analysis, load assessment, and roof/ground feasibility.
Prepare site measurement reports and coordinate with the design team for layout finalization.
Verify bill of materials (BOM) and ensure material availability before execution.
2. Installation & Execution
Supervise installation of modules, mounting structures, inverters, DC/AC cabling, earthing, and protections.
Ensure compliance with installation standards (MNRE, DISCOM, IEC guidelines).
Coordinate with contractors, technicians, and labor for smooth execution.
Monitor daily work progress and resolve on-site technical issues.
3. Safety & Quality Control
Implement and enforce safety standards (PPE, electrical & work-at-height safety).
Conduct quality inspections during each stage of installation.
Maintain documentation for quality checks and site compliance.
4. Testing & Commissioning
Perform system testing: continuity, insulation resistance, inverter configuration, and system performance.
Commission the solar plant and hand it over to the client with proper documentation.
5. Client Coordination & Reporting
Communicate with clients regarding site updates, timelines, and technical clarifications.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
Assist in documentation for net metering, subsidy, and approvals if needed.
6. Operations & Maintenance (O&M)
Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to inverters, strings, cables, or system performance.
Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance as required.
Required Qualifications
Diploma / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering.
1-5 years of experience in solar rooftop/ground-mount installation (freshers may also be considered).
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, and electrical components.
Ability to read SLDs, layouts, and technical drawings.
Good understanding of safety and regulatory standards.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, and basic monitoring platforms.
Additional Requirements
Willingness to travel to multiple sites.
Ability to work under outdoor conditions.
Should have a valid two/four-wheeler driving license (preferred).
