A Site Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising construction activities at the project site. The role ensures that work is executed as per drawings, specifications, safety standards, and project timelines. The Site Engineer acts as a link between the project manager, contractors, vendors, and the workforce.
Key Responsibilities 1. Site Execution & Supervision Execute and monitor all site activities as per approved drawings and specifications. Supervise civil works such as excavation, PCC, RCC, formwork, reinforcement, masonry, plaster, flooring, and finishing. Ensure proper setting-out, levels, and dimensions at each stage of construction. Coordinate with subcontractors and labour teams for smooth workflow. 2. Quality Control Inspect materials received at site and ensure compliance with project standards. Conduct quality checks for concrete, reinforcement, shuttering, compaction, curing, etc. Maintain QA/QC documentation such as cube test reports, checklists, and inspection records. 3. Planning & Coordination Prepare daily/weekly work schedules and allocate tasks to labour teams. Coordinate with project manager, architects, structural consultants, and MEP teams. Ensure timely availability of materials, machinery, and manpower. 4. Measurement & Documentation Prepare daily progress reports (DPR), labour reports, and material consumption logs. Take joint measurements with subcontractors for billing purposes. Maintain site records such as drawings register, site instructions, and correspondence. 5. Safety & Compliance Enforce safety protocols, use of PPE, and housekeeping practices at site. Report hazards, near-misses, and ensure corrective actions. Ensure work is executed as per statutory and environmental norms. 6. Problem Solving & Technical Support Resolve site-level technical issues promptly. Provide solutions for constructability, design modifications, and site constraints. Ensure proper interpretation of drawings. --- Essential Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of civil engineering construction practices. Ability to read and interpret structural, architectural & services drawings. Good communication and coordination skills. Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and basic project management tools. Leadership qualities to manage workforce and subcontractors. --- Qualification & Experience Education: Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering. Experience: 2-8 years in building, infrastructure, or industrial projects (depending on requirement). Certifications (optional): Safety training, QA/QC certification, AutoCAD, MS Project/Primavera. --- Performance Indicators Achievement of daily/weekly site targets. Quality of work executed.
