The Site Engineer - Civil Construction is responsible for day-to-day site execution, supervision, coordination, billing support, and documentation, ensuring all construction activities are completed as per approved drawings, quality standards, timelines, and cost controls.
The role demands high discipline in site records, measurements, reporting, and proactive planning, along with close coordination with contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities1. Site Execution & Supervision
Supervise and coordinate all civil construction activities from project commencement to final completion, including but not limited to excavation, RCC works, masonry, plastering, waterproofing, flooring, painting, and all other finishing works, ensuring execution as per approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and timelines.
Ensure execution strictly as per approved GFC (Good for Construction) drawings and specifications.
Monitor contractor manpower and workmanship on a daily basis.
Verify levels, alignment, shuttering, reinforcement, concreting, curing, and finishing quality.
Identify execution issues and immediately escalate major risks or delays to the Project Manager.
2. Planning, Resource Management & Coordination
Prepare daily and weekly work plans in line with the project schedule.
Plan manpower, materials, machinery, and shuttering requirements in advance and inform the Project Manager of upcoming needs proactively.
Coordinate with procurement for timely material deliveries and prevent site stoppages.
Liaise with architects, consultants, structural engineers, and vendors to resolve drawing and execution conflicts.
Ensure timely mobilisation and demobilisation of resources at site.
3. Measurement, Billing & Cost Control (Site-Level)
Prepare, check, and maintain detailed measurement sheets for all executed works.
Record daily work quantities and maintain updated quantity tracking.
Verify contractor bills, measurements, and RA bills before submission to the Project Manager.
Support reconciliation of executed quantities versus BOQ and drawings.
Maintain material consumption, wastage logs, and reconciliation statements.
Flag excess quantities, deviations, or abnormal wastage immediately.
4. Quality Assurance & Control
Ensure quality checks are carried out at every stage of construction.
Implement checklist-based inspections for RCC, masonry, waterproofing, and finishing works.
Conduct and record site tests such as cube tests, slump tests, and other QA/QC requirements.
Maintain complete QA/QC documentation, inspection records, and photographic evidence.
5. Site Records, Documentation & Reporting
Maintain clean, accurate, and up-to-date site records at all times, including:
Daily progress reports (DPRs)
Labour and material registers
Measurement books and site quantity sheets
Site instructions and deviation records
Provide daily site updates during login, mid-day, and logout, covering:
Work completed
Work in progress
Issues, risks, or delays
Material or manpower requirements
Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for management review.
Assist in preparation of Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) and other execution documents.
Ensure all site documentation is audit-ready and properly organised.
6. Safety, Compliance & Discipline
Ensure strict adherence to safety norms and PPE usage by all site personnel.
Conduct regular safety checks and report incidents immediately.
Maintain safety registers, permits, and compliance records.
Support compliance with local statutory requirements, site permissions, and regulatory guidelines.
7. Coordination, Communication & Accountability
Act as the
primary site-level execution and reporting link
between contractors and project management.
Ensure instructions issued at site are properly documented and followed.
Maintain professional conduct, discipline, and ownership of site responsibilities.
Ensure no work is executed without proper drawings, approvals, or instructions.
Key Skills Required
Strong hands-on knowledge of civil construction and site execution.
Excellent understanding of drawings (architectural, structural, services).
Site measurement, billing, and quantity control expertise.
Strong documentation, reporting, and record-keeping discipline.
Ability to plan resources and foresee site requirements in advance.
Working knowledge of MS Excel, AutoCAD; MS Project is an added advantage.
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma in Civil Engineering
(mandatory).
2-5 years
of experience in residential or commercial civil construction projects.
Prior experience in active site execution and contractor coordination is essential.

High level of ownership and accountability for assigned site works.
Willingness to stay on site during critical activities (concreting, inspections, milestones).
Strong communication skills and ability to work under execution pressure.
Zero tolerance for poor documentation, unsafe practices, or unplanned work.
