The Fireproofing Site Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the technical aspects of fireproofing activities on a construction site. This includes ensuring compliance with design specifications, quality standards, safety regulations, and project schedules. The role involves collaboration with supervisors, quality inspectors, contractors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Review project drawings, specifications, and technical submittals related to fireproofing scope.
Supervise fireproofing works to ensure compliance with approved designs and applicable standards (e.g., UL, ASTM, NFPA).
Coordinate with fireproofing contractors and ensure timely mobilization and execution of work.
Conduct site inspections and prepare reports on fireproofing activities, including thickness checks and adhesion testing.
Verify substrate preparation and environmental conditions prior to application.
Support QA/QC teams in preparing inspection test plans (ITPs), checklists, and method statements.
Maintain daily site records including progress tracking, material consumption, and manpower deployment.
Identify and resolve technical issues on-site in coordination with designers, vendors, and consultants.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and actively participate in site safety audits.
Participate in meetings with stakeholders including clients, consultants, and contractors.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 2-5 years of experience in fireproofing or passive fire protection in construction or oil & gas sectors.
Good knowledge of fireproofing materials and application techniques (e.g., cementitious, intumescent coatings).
Familiarity with international standards and inspection/testing procedures.
Proficient in reading engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and coordination skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and site management tools; AutoCAD knowledge is a plus.
Working Conditions: Site-based role requiring physical presence during construction activities. Must be able to work in high-temperature, dusty, or confined environments and use appropriate PPE.
