Construction function in Bechtel India provides Construction Engineering services, Constructability reviews, construction automation support and various other home office construction services to our projects executed in New Delhi, Vadodara offices, domestic jobsites and international jobsites. Construction function in Bechtel India is inviting applications from construction professionals with field engineering and construction management experience to support the role of Site Logistics Manager. POSITION SUMMARY: The Site Logistics Manager is responsible for all aspects of the construction logistics on large infrastructure construction sites, development, and optimization of site logistics solutions to meet the needs of the project. The site logistics manager will be required to manage the interface between various construction contractors on site and their activities like movement of people, construction equipment,site facilities management. Will be responsible to support project frontend activities such as preconstruction planning, execution strategies on major infrastructure projects like Airports and other Civil Infrastructure projects. Key interfaces that the logistics manager must ensure early engagement with all the stakeholders like project planning manager, construction manager, contracts manager, the liaising manager, ES&H manager, and other stakeholders on the project. The site logistics manager should ensure that the construction team is fully aware of logistics activities in support of the build program. JOB DIMENSIONS: A. Supervision Received Receives technical and operational supervision from Project Construction Director or designee B. Supervision Exercised Provides technical and administrative direction to subordinate logistic engineers if assigned. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Plan site set-up to move labour, plant, and materials around site efficiently (eg hoarding, gates, site accommodation, cranes, hoists, security, temporary services, material delivery and waste management strategy, catering). Plan internal and external logistics routes throughout the project phases focusing on separation of vehicles, machinery and people. Lay down areas and offloading points. Responsible for all traffic management internally and externally, weighbridges and road network cleanliness. Create a schedule of logistics meetings and ensure logistics is represented at site meetings. Describe the characteristics of the site, including site access /egress, storage capacity and arrangement by programme, labour, hoists, cranes etc. Use the description to produce daily, weekly, and long-term movements plans, control materials in and out of site. Plan and integrate with key contractors to meet the needs of the planned programme and de-confliction of onsite space and time where appropriate. Be capable of managing sub-contractors to deliver their package of goods or services. Organize resources to support work additional hours as required to meet project deadlines (eg extended site hours if required by client). Responsible for ensuring logistics activities are not a constraining factor on the program, and issues are informed. Ensuring the organization's safety policies are followed. Responsible for ensuring that material movement to and from the workface does not cause damage to the works, the workforce or the public. Create appropriate logistics awareness trainings. Safeguard vulnerable road users from traffic and transport created by the site. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION: Typically requires bachelor's or master's degree in Civil engineering (or international equivalent) and a minimum of total 18 years and 8 years of airport experience, or 20 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree. Proven construction experience on large infrastructure projects like green Airports is mandatory. Strong leadership skills and ability to influence internal and external stakeholders. Effective communication skills. Technical knowledge of all phases of construction engineering relating to a single discipline interfacing with all areas, or in a multi-discipline position assigned to a single area. Prior experience of supervising and administering subcontractors on large infrastructure projects, like Airports is required. Shall have an experience in project logistics on infrastructure projects. Prior experience in project early works, site logistics, access roads, site set-up, temporary facilities, site camps for civil projects. Shall be flexible to travel to other project job sites on short term or long-term assignments as required. Commercial/contract basic understanding and ability to utilize business management system procedures.
