Purpose of the Job

:

The Simulation Engineer is responsible for performing simulation analyses to support the product development process by predicting product performance under various operating conditions. This role provides essential virtual validation data and performance evaluations that guide design optimization, reduce physical testing needs, and shorten development timelines. The job enables data-driven design decisions by delivering accurate, timely, and validated simulation results.

Major Responsibilities

:

Perform simulation analyses:



Execute finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid dynamics (CFD), or multi-body dynamics (MBD) simulations for product designs. Interpret results, identify issues, and recommend design modifications.

Develop & validate new simulation model capabilities:



Develop new simulation capabilities. Correlate models with physical test results and continuously refine simulation accuracy.

Initiating new FEA-tools



Develop/ validate FEA-tool development

Rolling out to (potential) users

Prepare & Present technical reports & SOP's:



Document simulation results, and conclusions. Present findings to customer with clear recommendations.

Facilitate and drive a structured way of creating and maintaining company documentation, such as quality manuals, quality procedures, SOP's etc.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams:



Work closely with other R&D functions to gather requirements, provide insights, and recommend design improvements based on simulation outcomes.

Continuous upgrade technical knowledge

:

Stay updated with advancements in simulation tools, techniques, and industry best practices. Participate in internal and external training programs as required.

Product Development groups & Pre-development: Integrate engineering software with product design and validation processes

Testing Team: Correlate simulation results with physical testing outcomes and improve simulation models.

Process Team: Evaluate manufacturability-related concerns and provide virtual validation insights.

EXTERNAL:



Suppliers/Software Vendors:

Discuss technical issues, software updates, and customization needs.

External Consultants/Research Partners:

Collaborate on complex simulation challenges and technology development.



Relevant Experience

:

2-5 years in simulation engineering roles preferred, or by demonstrating thorough use of simulation tools during graduation through academic projects, internships, or thesis work



Education Qualification(s)

:

Preferably MSc degree in Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or similar

Familiarity with CAD/CATIA/3D Drawings

Proficiency in FEA, CFD, or MBD simulation techniques

Development / interpretation of FEA results and statistical experimental design

Engineering design principles

Material behaviour

Selection of appropriate simulation setups and parameters within project guidelines.

Interpretation of simulation results and identification of potential design concerns.

Recommendations for minor design adjustments based on simulation findings.

Decisions made with reporting manager:



Need for physical testing or model validation activities.

Suggestions for significant design changes based on simulation outcomes.

Proposals for process improvements or tool upgrades.
