to supervise and coordinate shuttering (formwork) activities at the construction site. The Shuttering Foreman will ensure that all formwork operations are executed safely, accurately, and efficiently in accordance with the approved drawings, specifications, and project schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervision & Execution:
Supervise and direct
formwork carpenters, helpers, and laborers
in constructing, assembling, and dismantling formwork for concrete structures such as slabs, beams, columns, walls, and foundations.
Interpret
construction drawings and formwork layouts
to guide the team in proper shuttering setup.
Ensure
accuracy, alignment, and stability
of formwork before concreting.
Check and verify
dimensions, levels, and support systems
(props, scaffolds, ties, etc.) to maintain structural integrity.
Monitor
formwork removal
after concrete achieves the required strength.
Quality & Safety Control:
Ensure all shuttering work conforms to
design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations
.
Conduct
regular inspections
to detect and correct formwork defects or unsafe practices.
Ensure proper use, cleaning, and maintenance of
daily work schedules, manpower, and material requirements
.
Coordinate with
site engineers, rebar and concrete teams
to ensure smooth work sequencing.
Report
daily progress, manpower deployment, and material consumption
to the site engineer or project manager.
Assist in
formwork material requisition
and inventory management.
Team Management:
Lead, train, and motivate a team of shuttering carpenters and helpers.
Monitor crew productivity and maintain discipline on site.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
ITI / Diploma in Civil or Carpentry trade (preferred).
Experience:
3-7 years of experience in
formwork/shuttering works
, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or foreman role.
Technical Skills:
Ability to
read and interpret civil/structural drawings
.
Strong knowledge of
formwork systems
(wooden, steel, aluminum, modular, etc.).
Familiarity with
construction tools, scaffolding, and safety practices
.
Soft Skills:
Good leadership and communication skills.
Ability to plan, prioritize, and work under pressure.
