Role Overview
ThoughtStorm is seeking a senior developer/Technical Lead technical design, build & maintain
Shopify Plus solutions in a large-scale digital transformation program. Drive custom app
development, headless commerce, and integration with CRM/DWH while ensuring performance,
security, and compliance.
You will lead technical solutioning for new implementations, upgrades, and complex integrations -
ensuring every solution is performant, scalable, and supportable in production. This position is ideal
for someone who can architect, code, and optimize in equal measure.
Architect and implement Shopify Plus storefronts (donations, merchandise, lottery).
Develop custom Shopify apps using Node.js, React (Polaris), GraphQL, and Liquid.
Build Checkout UI Extensions, Hydrogen-based headless solutions, and theme
customizations.
Integrate Shopify with CRM, Data Warehouse, and payment gateways using webhooks and
middleware.
Ensure PCI DSS compliance, data security, and observability.
Mentor junior developers; enforce coding standards and best practices.
Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and release management.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Development & Customization
o Design, develop, and maintain Shopify modules, extensions, and integrations with
other systems.
o Customize core to meet unique business needs.
o Maintain the delivered solution to the customer
Solution Architecture & Integration
o Collaborate with architects, consultants, and business analysts to translate business
requirements into reliable technical solutions.
o Design and implement secure integrations using APIs, web services, Logic Apps, or
Azure Functions.
Performance, Quality & Support
o Conduct performance tuning and optimization to ensure system scalability and
reliability.
o Implement robust error handling, retry logic, and logging frameworks, applying
patterns like exponential backoff for transient failures.
o Extend telemetry with Application Insights or similar tools to monitor API latency,
user activity, and transaction anomalies.
o Participate in code reviews and enforce clean, maintainable development standards.
Deployment & Lifecycle Management
o Contribute to CI/CD pipeline setup using Azure DevOps or equivalent tools for
solution packaging, testing, and deployment.
o Automate environment configuration where possible, ensuring version control
integrity and repeatable deployments.
o Maintain documentation including solution architecture, integration flow diagrams,
technical specifications, and runbooks.
Collaboration & Mentorship
o Work closely with project managers, testers, and functional consultants to deliver on
time and on quality.
o Provide technical guidance to junior developers and assist in standardizing best
practices across projects.
o Act as a technical SME during client workshops, design sessions, and solution
reviews.
Required Qualifications
8 12 years in software development, with 5+ years in Shopify Plus / eCommerce
architecture.
Bachelor's/Master's in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
Familiarity with Azure services such as Logic Apps, Key Vault, and Application Insights for
telemetry and monitoring.
Strong documentation and communication skills - able to clearly explain complex technical
concepts to non-technical audiences.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Shopify Markets, B2B features, multi-store setups.
Knowledge of Algolia Search, Power BI dashboards, observability tools.
Familiarity with Salesforce/Dynamics CRM integration.
Shopify Plus, Shopify APIs (REST/GraphQL), Liquid, Hydrogen, Polaris.
JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, React, GraphQL.
Custom App Development, Checkout UI Extensions, Headless Commerce.
AWS Services (Lambda, S3, RDS), CI/CD pipelines, OAuth, idempotent API design.
Integration with CRM/DWH, webhooks, event-driven architecture.
Agile/Scrum, JIRA, Confluence, Git.
Security & Compliance, PCI DSS, data privacy.
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and source control (Git / Azure Repos).
Knowledge of Application Insights / Log Analytics for proactive alerting and diagnostics.
Experience working in Agile delivery environments with iterative sprints and DevOps culture
