To lead and manage quality assurance and testing activities in the CRD QA Lab on a shift basis, ensuring reliable and accurate testing of cold rolled products. The role will focus on supporting enhanced testing capabilities for the auto sector and hollowware customers through the newly installed Zwick UTM machine and ensuring adherence to quality standards, customer requirements, and internal process validations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Routine Testing:
Conduct and supervise mechanical testing of CR products as per quality plans and customer specifications.
Operate and maintain the
Zwick UTM machine
, performing advanced testing for parameters such as
R-Bar
and
N-Value
.
Ensure timely reporting and documentation of test results with accuracy and compliance.
2. Complaint Sample Testing:
Analyze and test complaint samples received from customers or internal teams.
Support root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for quality concerns.
3. Inter-Plant Testing:
Coordinate and execute test requests from other plants.
Facilitate cross-functional quality alignment and standardization across plants.
4. Cross-Departmental Testing:
Support testing requirements for
R&D, Product Development, and Defense
divisions.
Ensure smooth coordination with relevant departments for validation testing.
5. Special Projects / Trials:
Conduct testing for
new product development
,
process improvement trials
, and
specific customer projects
.
Provide technical insights and recommendations based on testing outcomes.
6. Shift Operations Management:
Manage manpower, testing schedules, and workload distribution across shifts.
Ensure equipment availability, calibration, and upkeep to maintain test reliability.
Maintain adherence to safety and quality protocols during all testing operations.
Key Skills and Competencies:
Strong understanding of mechanical testing and metallurgical properties of CR products.
Hands-on experience with
UTM (Universal Testing Machines)
; preferably
Zwick
or equivalent.
Analytical and problem-solving skills in handling complaint samples and trial evaluations.
Effective communication and documentation abilities.
Knowledge of quality standards such as
ISO 9001
,
IATF 16949
preferred.
Team leadership and shift management capability.
Qualification and Experience:
B. Sc. / Diploma in Mechanical / Metallurgy / Material Science Engineering
3-6 years
of experience in QA/QC testing, preferably in steel or metal manufacturing industry.
Exposure to automotive or precision sheet metal quality requirements will be an added advantage.
Working Conditions:
