Job Purpose: The Shift Incharge - Operations (CPP) ensures continuous power supply to the cement plant by managing power generation and maintaining grid balance during assigned shifts. This role involves optimizing efficiency, ensuring environmental compliance, supervising equipment maintenance, and coordinating shift operations. The Shift Incharge also enforces safety standards, oversees reporting, and addresses operational issues to minimize downtime and maintain a safe working environment.
Responsibilities:
Shift Operations Management:
Ensure uninterrupted power supply to the cement plant by safely managing power generation and maintaining grid import/export balance through precise turbine-generator (TG) load adjustments.
Oversee the safe and efficient operation of the entire power plant during assigned shifts, including monitoring bunker levels and coordinating with the Coal Handling Plant (CHP) team to ensure a continuous coal supply for boiler operations.
Efficiency Optimization:
Achieve targets for auxiliary power consumption and reduce coal usage by optimizing boiler and turbine generator operations.
Adjust operations based on load patterns to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
Environmental Compliance Monitoring:
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations (IBR norms) during shifts, particularly in the operation of boilers and turbine generators, monitoring boiler steam and water quality.
Implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance with emission standards.
Equipment Maintenance Supervision:
Oversee the maintenance of critical equipment such as silos, fly ash and bed ash handling systems during shifts, ensuring proper operation.
Conduct routine checks and inspections to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
Shift Reporting & Coordination:
Take charge of shift operations, ensuring smooth handovers and accurate reporting of operational status.
Guide CCR operators and field contract workmen, ensuring their KPIs are met and safety protocols followed.
Safety Compliance:
Enforce safety standards and procedures during shift operations, ensuring a safe working environment.
Address any safety concerns promptly, coordinating with relevant departments as needed.
Troubleshooting & Incident Management:
Respond to operational issues and equipment malfunctions promptly, implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime.
Document incidents and coordinate with maintenance teams to resolve any underlying issues.
Internal Controls & Ethical Standards:
Use ethical reasoning to guide decisions, considering the broader impact on the organization and stakeholders.
Ensure all communications, both verbal and written, reflect the organization's commitment to integrity and ethics.
Organizational Skills:
Prioritize tasks effectively to ensure timely completion of departmental objectives and projects.
Implement best practices in workflow management to reduce bottlenecks and improve output quality.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adapting to changing priorities and demands with agility.

Qualifications:
Education Qualification:
BE in Mechanical Engineering.
Work Experience:
5+ years of experience in power plant operations, including shift management and equipment supervision. Proven ability to handle power generation, efficiency optimization, and compliance monitoring effectively.
Industry Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of power plant operations, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
